We put two technically astute fabrics to work on these different needs. EncapSilO-treated polyester repels rain and wind on the shell's main exposure areas. The fabric is so dry-feeling, soft and breathable, you can wear it against the skin without feeling clammy. The high-sweat areas of the underarms (shells) and back (vest) have superlight microfiber nylon panels for breathability and a quicker drying time. The panels' DWR (durable water repellent) finish adds insurance against the damp. Velocity shells are equipped with a storm-flapped full-length zipper, trim, seamless shoulders, elastic cuffs and a drawcord hem. The zip pocket doubles as a built-in stuff sack; the women's version is designed to fit women. The seams on both shells have been repositioned this season for a more contoured fit; Velocitys move with your body but still al low room to layer.
